Raksha Bandhan ???

Raksha Bandhan  ???

Last week, few of my friends asked me as to why I was still wearing the raksha bandhan rakhis to my hand. I usually wear them until the next raksha bandhan, which means that I wear them for an entire year, or until it cuts by itself. There is a belief that, the longer the rakhi stays in ur hand, the more good it is for you. It may be in the form of ur sister's blessings for your well-being. The name raksha bandhan itself tells that the sacred rakhi is tied for the raksha of the brothers.
I remembered an unforgettable incident in my life dealing with raksha bandhan, when my friends asked me about the rakhi bands i still wore. Usually, i get 4-5 bands tied on my hand on every occasion, 1 being tied by my sister and rest being tied by my cousins. I'm very lucky to have them as sisters in this aspect.
It so happened that one of my elder cousin, who didn't have any brothers, started tying this rakhi band to me from the time i was born. She was given so much respect that, she used to tie the band to me even before my sister tied the band to me. Every year it was the same. She would come home early morning with rakhi and sweets, before i left for the school and tie it to me before my sister tied. I also loved her for her care towards me.
From the time I was born, till the time I was 19yrs old, she tied the band to me. But at that point of time, it happened that some misunderstanding arised in her family on our family. On that raksha bandhan day, she didn't come to tie the rakhi to me. I'd waited for her till noon for her to come, without going to college. Since she didn't come even by that time, my mom called her and asked her as to why she hadn't come yet. We were shocked to hear her cruel wordings. She was not the same person as the one she was before. She had changed entirely. Her mindset was completely different. She had completely forgotten the way my mom used to take care of her when she used to come to our house. Most of the times, until she finished her schooling, she used to often come and stay in our house. She used to stay so many days that, one of my neighbour had asked my mom whether we have adopted her. She had forgotten everything about the care my mom had taken towards her. From that year onwards, until now, she hasn’t come to tie the rakhi band to me. Moreover, she hasn’t spoken to me at all…
So, one thought in my mind… Never ever give anyone so much respect which they don’t deserve… Respect them, only if they respect you…

Love the fascinating Petrol smell ???

Love the fascinating Petrol smell ???
These days, the most we hate is the smoke coming from the pollution. There is lot of traffic, especially in cities like namma Bengaluru. Even though the smoke smell is horrible, some of them like the smell of petrol and kerosene. During my school days, even I used to like their smell.
I used to take the private van to school, since our school doesn't have their own vans or buses. After all the classes got over, me and my cousin, who travelled in the same van, would go to the back entrance of the school and wait for our van there. This guy used to make 2 trips- one at 330pm and other at 430pm. Our classes left at 4. So we had to take the 2nd trip. Everyday we used to wait for 15-20min at the back gate for our van to arrive. During this time, we used to do some stupid things.
There were many private vans and auto rickshaws there at the back gate to pick up other children. Among them, some were new autos and some old ones. For us, the smoke coming from the autos was very fascinating, especially from the older autos. I used to stand at one end of the road and my cousin at the other end. As soon as the auto starts, we used to run behind them just to know if the smoke had a good smell. In case one of them liked it, he would call the other and both of us would run behind that auto until we could run. After the auto moved far from us, we used to come back to  the same place where we stood and wait for the next auto. In case we didn't like the smell, we used to look for another auto.
Those days we used to run for feeling the fascinating fragrance of the smoke coming out of those vehicles. But now, we hate to even go out in pollution. Even though these things sound stupid to us now, we never forget the stuffs we did in our school days.
