Patience - Do You Have It ??

Are you having enough patience in life ??

It was the last week of December – the last week of the year 2010, I witnessed an accident on the NICE Road.

I was travelling towards my office on the NICE road. At the end of the NICE Road, it connects to the Hosur road. Usually, during the peak hours, there will be lot of traffic at the end of this connecting road. So, many of the vehicle users tend to travel on the other side of the road (i.e. on the right side of the road where the vehicles come from opposite direction) after passing the final toll on the NICE Road. This road provides them as a shortcut, so that they can reach their destination early. Yes, the accident which I witnessed was due to a vehicle following the wrong direction.

I was in the office bus, stuck in the traffic jam near the end of the road. A Scorpio car user came in the wrong direction, overcoming all the traffic that was there from around 10 minutes. He must have thought that he is reaching the destination earlier than what he had thought of. But alas, there was something to happen. A bike rider coming in the right direction couldn’t recognise that this Scorpio was coming in his opposite direction, breaking the road rules. Unable to control his bike, he rammed into the Scorpio. The result? The bike was broken into pieces. The head light, the front tyre, most of the front part of the bike was broken into pieces. And the saddest thing – he laid on the road unconscious…!! Maybe he was dead !!

What was the mistake he committed ??  - Nothing…!!!

He was just coming in the right direction. But unable to control his bike, he lost his balance and lay helpless on the road. I don’t know what happened to him, don’t know whether he survived or was dead.

So whose mistake was it? Yes, it was the mistake committed by the Scorpio user who came in the wrong direction. Though the bike user did not do any mistake, he was a victim of the mistake committed by some other person.

In this world, why is that people who commit mistake are spared and the ones who don’t commit any mistake become the victims ? If only the Scorpio user had waited for some time in the traffic, he could’ve avoided the accident. He could’ve waited with a small amount of patience. Not only him, many of us like him, tend to lose patience, especially in situations like traffic and tend to take shortcuts. It may not have an effect on us directly. But others may suffer because of our mistakes.

So people, please have some patience in all the things you do. I don’t say not to break the rules. Some rules HAVE to be broken in life. But not the ones which can cause trouble to others. Any comments ??

Friends v/s Colleagues

Friends and Colleagues

There is a saying that, “Colleagues can never be friends”.

I felt this saying is very true…

Reason: Miscommunication.

If any miscommunication happens within friends, they will try to solve themselves. Even if it is other person’s mistake, that friend will put the blame on himself and solve the matter.

But in the case of colleagues, this is not the case. Even if it is their mistake, they put the blame on others and always try to be safe on their side.

That’s the difference between colleagues and friends. This world is so bad. The saying “Colleagues can never be friends” is very very true…

Generation G-A-P ?? or Not so C-O-O-L ??

“Yesterday I was chatting (SMS) with my Cousin after a long time. She ‘s in +2 at MCC , Bangalore

She forwards a good morning message on my mobile, later followed a series of conversation:

Me :  Hey hi! How’s  you doing sweety??

She:  Hey Gm! U stil arnd? U neva rply 2 ma txts..

Me: Well dear , you know by the time I reach home it’s always 9:30 or 10 at night and you would go to bed early. Well sorry though..:)

She: s t? ya olwys lyk bus dude..:-/ fin tym fa ur swt cous..;)

Now I was getting a little confused like what was she trying to sayL.. I din wanna reply asking ‘WHAT’?? that would jeopardize my reputation of still being in this generation L.. tried hard understanding with the context

Me: Hehe :D  .. Ya kind a busy babes u know .. with work and all ..

(Me thinking..What the heck is with me ..? ‘Babes’??? She called me dude so I replied with ‘BABES’..!! is this lingo appropriate with that generation?? Well I tried to be one of them :D)

She: yea .. Reli.. ows wrk ’on now?

(God! What’s this now?? Whats up with kids now-a-days? They swallow half of the letters in a word..)

Me: It’s ok now dear. I’m sort of free these days as it is the end of year and considering that vacation is up next in the US. Should be free until Jan 15^th.

(All the Effective email communication training affect that am used to type all the words with all the letters inside it. Uff.. such huge gap between us )

She: Beta!

(Now what’s this supposed to mean..one word?? I din dare to ask again thinking it would not be so cool.. I desperately wanted to be one of them now and wanted that college-going-kid feeling. So I checked my previous messages and first SMS had something like ‘Neva’ which I assumed it for ‘never’. So ‘Beta’ would be ‘Better’.  Now I got what she wanted to convey..uff)

Me: yes.. Enjoying my free time at office :)

She: Hey u so mean! Y din u cum to hme lst week wen ur bro,kid n bhabi cme?

Me: Hey sorry honey, I had to meet one of my friend that day.. so couldn’t turn up.

She: cme nxt tym.. dy told u wudn cme.. I was lyk xtrmly angry.. Hey kidz so adoble.. cutie pie..

(Well.. atleast by now I should be able to understand this..:))

Again  SHE: wts tkin u long tym to rply??

(God.. its been ages since I did a rapid SMS conversation.. and moreover I got to understand her msgs.. well I tried my best to reply fast)

Me: yes sure swtz .. I’ll come next next time .. Now you take care of yourself. I gotta go.

She: K den. Cme nea colg nytym .. ll intro to ma frens ;) .. c ya

Me: Oh that’s sweet.. then for sure will come :) .. cya take care.

By the end of all this I felt so ancient and totally felt out of place. The only thing cheered me up was meeting few gals at MCC when I go to see her  hehehe.. hope I wouldn’t feel so ancient when am there“

This sometimes happens to us also. Now, even I’m wondering what is the answer. Is it really generation gap ??  Or we are not cool anymore ??  Any answers ??

Celebrating the glory of namma kannaDa naaDu

Celebrating the glory of Karnataka @namma Bengaluru DC.

Kannada Rajyotsava- it is the day when the state Karnataka got its name and took birth (November 1st, 1973). Though this day falls on November 1st, the entire month of November is celebrated as a part of this utsava in the state of Karnataka.

On 15th and 16th of November, we celebrated the grand Karnataka Rajyotsava at our Infy Bengaluru DC. I had been a part of the volunteer group. We conducted games on both the days at the food courts, the games being rural games of Karnataka. The games which we conducted were- Goli aaTa, making as many Karnataka flags as possible with the colour papers given, tying the jade(as ladies tie their hair) with the lace given, identifying the various districts of Karnataka and few more. These games we conducted during the lunch hour. Lots of people- both Kannadigas and non-Kannadigas participated in these games and had fun in playing them. Apart from the games, there was also the Karnataka photography competition in which many pictures representing the culture of Karnataka were being displayed.

The main glorious event started on the 16th at 5:30 in the evening. The two anchors for the event, Sneha and Samhita, started off with the event. The guests lighted the lamp and the song "Hacchevu kannaDa deepa" was sung simultaneously.

The chief guest for this event was a great singer- Mrs. M D Pallavi Arun. She is a renowned singer who has sung lot of cultural songs, patriotic songs, bhaava geethegaLu and a few movie songs as well. She sung around 8-9 songs in the event, out of which I liked 4 of them the most-

1. Song from the “Jnaana-peeTa” awardee poet, Da Ra Bendre's kruti- "Naakutanti".

2. One of her own composition Saakshi, kannadada sakshi. AaNe, Kannadada aaNe.

3. Nodayya pyate lingave... a movie song

4. KannaDa uLisi, kannaDa beLesi, kannaDavanne baLasi...

She has sung many songs which replicates the fight for the angikarana(formation) of the Karnataka state.

Next was the performance of the “Laya-Taranga” group. This group has many performers including Arun on the drums, who is also the singer's husband. This program started with the playing the flute by another well known person, who, with his soft music, made the evening a pleasant one. Adding to the music of the flute were the various other instruments played, which made it even more wonderful. Individual performance of the various musical instruments followed it.

Now there was an unusual programme by the same group, which I saw for the first time in my life. All the group members played music without using the musical instruments. Yes, they did not use any instruments. All the sounds they performed with only the help of their mouth. There were 3 performers for that, who made various kind of music from their voice one after the other. The sound made by them was so very wonderful, that the audience stood up and gave a huge round of applause. I never ever had seen such an awesome performance. 

The way they used to make the sound, the speed at which they performed, the twists they made in their mouths was too good. Really enjoying performance from the “Laya-Taranga” group.

Next was the performance of a non-Kannadiga member, Maitri, who had learnt kannada by attending the Kannada-Kali classes conducted at our campus. The Kannada-Kali classes are conducted by a great professor, Mr. Raghavan. She sung a beautiful kannada track and another thing is that, if the anchors didn't inform the audience that she was a non-Kannadiga, nobody would have guessed, as the song sung by her was really good.

Next was the performance of the 'Step n Sync' team of Infosys. This performance started with the song "Krishna nee begane baaro", performed by group of ladies. The combination of blue and white costume wore by them was looking great.

The next mind-blasting performance was a duet song, "Aakasha neeli, neenondu goodu banteega preethi haari" from the movie 'Ambari'. The amazing thing in this performance is that the guy and the girl were handicapped(only in the songJ ). The guy didn't have a leg and the girl didn't have a hand. The emotion of love which they showed through that song was heart-touching. This song showed that true love is not based on the physical attraction, but on the inner mind and heart, which should be pure enough to understand the feelings of each other.

Next, there were a couple of dance performances by this team, with next 3 songs being the tracks from the Powerstar's movies- Jackie, Veera Kannadiga and Raam. There was one dance performance for each of these songs- Just Math Mathali, Jinke mari na with one final song being played- "HuTTidare kannaDa naaDalli huTTabeku".

It was indeed a great evening to celebrate the glory of Karnataka at namma Bengaluru DC. This programme wouldn't have been a great success without the help of the organizers like Siddu, Anantha, Balaji and all the volunteers who took active participation in all the activities. Hope we get to watch many more programmes like this one. J
